TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
AQUA ARMOR provides a tough, stand-alone waterproofing lining. An impermeable barrier suitable for stainless, carbon steel and concrete. Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. Suitable over a wide pH range, and very forgiving for out-of-balance water chemistry. Does not require periodic refinishing, with a service life up to 20 years. Can be applied directly to gunite, poured-in-place concrete and metal.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Aqua Armor is a spray-applied, high-build, high -performance, glass fibre -reinforced polymeric coating that is impermeable, hard, wear, abrasion and corrosion resistant. It delivers a slightly textured surface, and excellent bonding to stainless steel and concrete. It is an industrial-grade product, used for heavy -duty industrial protective coatings.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Water vapor transmission test – ASTM E96/E96M-24 Color: White and some custom colors. Catalyst ratio: 1-3 % MEKP. Level depends on temperature and other environmental conditions. Cure mechanism: Free radical initiated chain growth polymerization of a thermosetting resin. Concrete Adhesion: ASTM D 7234 N/mm2 Result : Exceeds the strength of concrete. Stainless steel: With abrasive blasting/angular profile for bond – 75.8 MPa Typical thickness range: 1500 -2000 mu Theoretical coverage: 1.5 m2 /kg @ 500 mu Water temperature resistance : Continuous 90ºC Container volume : 208 L drum
PREPARATION
Preparation procedures for concrete will be dictated by prevailing surface conditions.Where the plaster is well bonded, then acid etching is required to roughen the surface for bond.No chip-out of plaster is required. Where pop-offs have been detected, then those areas will be knocked out to solid plaster, and rapid-set cement will be used to fill in those voids.Level with a wooden float the placed cement, to existing levels. Stainless steel pools, abrasive blasting is required to produce an angular profile for bond.Use the appropriate blast media.Profile the metal ± 10 mils (250um)
APPLICATION DATA
Spray method : HVLP spray equipment with 60m hose set, and internal mix gun.
Thinner: No thinner required. Cleaner: Acetone
Recoat interval : None; apply multiple passes consecutively. Pot life: No pot life considerations.
Cure time: Determined by catalyst level and temperature. Typically 5-10 hrs.
APPLICATION
Constituents: Modified vinyl ester base resin, reinforced with glass fibre.
Resin additives, modifiers and UV stabilizers are added.
Spray tip : .060 for high output.
Proper spraying techniques must be observed.Do not apply < 5ºC
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS
AQUA ARMOR cannot be applied in excessive moisture and damp conditions. Use ASTM
D 4263 ;Plastic Sheet Test Method to test for moisture in concrete pools.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
AQUA ARMOR can only be applied by Certified Applicators who will uphold the safety policy for applying Aqua Armor. Applicators shall wear half face respirators. The resin contains a solvent, but is not harmful to health.
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Store in a cool ,dry covered space. Away from direct sunlight or heat source.
Do not store below 5ºC. Shelf life is 3 -4 months based on temperature.
